We were honored by knowing and working with Father Paul over the years on many issues. He was a close friend of Joe Miller.

I was a Penn undergrad student in the early 1980's when I first had the opportunity to talk to Father Paul about his work. He was an inspiration then, and continues to be. Father Paul is one of the folks, along with George Lakey, who I credit for setting me on the path of a life's work for social justice and peace. My gratitude to Father Paul's family for the legacy you have continued.

I just recently stumbled upon this site. I grew up in North Philadelphia and graduated William Penn High School for Girls in 1071 and although I have lived in New Jersey since college, I remember Father Washington. I remember him from so many things. Girard College when my parents took us as children to walk the picket line. The Black Power Convention. His support of Bishop Harris and just all of the things that he did to empower our community and give us a voice in Philadelphia when it was neither popular or easy to do so. I remember Father Washington....

I worked with Father Paul when I was in college during the summers of 1964-65. I was there to work in the summer programs for the children and their families that the church had established. To this day many years later I can still hear his voice, his laugh and strong look of his eyes. He and his wife have always been people who framed for me the standards with which I meet and work with others

I just wanted to say that the name, Father Washington meant a lot in our family. He was a loving mentor to my father, David Phillip and he married my parents. God Bless the Washington family and the movement. Peace, Ayenda Lambert

I'm happy to see this effort goin' on in my life.Father Paul M. Washington and the Church of the Advocate was more than just a church. It was more like an international headquarters for (change) revolutionary thoght and action. I saw so many social change agents there growin' and coming of age in the sixties. Whenever Father Paul M. Washington was envolved in something I would watch it very closely. He wore quiet dignity and always brought much to the table to feast apon. Respectfully submitted - Hrw Re Mfuasi
